New Years Resolutions + Apps to Help!
Okay so this post was supposed to go up a long time ago but I was having major issues with my website hosting company and am only just now able to update my blog so here we are! I’ve put together some new years goals and even though we’re already 12 days in, it’s better late than never! We all struggle with new years resolutions and sticking them out until the end. I put together a list of my 2018 goals and included apps I have either used or heard of from other people that can help with these goals.
1. Drink Enough Water Everyday
I have been so awful at drinking enough water everyday and my daily energy level definitely shows that. It’s so easy to forget, but so important to remember. I know that a lot of popular apps can track how much water you drink but i found this fun app that does just that and fills your phone screen up to the percent of water you’ve drank that day like it’s a glass of water! The app is called My Water Balance: Daily Drink Tracker & Reminder and it is also offered on the Apple watch.
2. Pray More
It can be easy to put your faith on the back burner when life starts to get in the way. So this year my goal is to keep up with my faith and make it a priority. I found the perfect app for this: First 5. The purpose of this app is to use the first 5 minutes of your day to read a teaching in God’s word.
3. Wear My Retainer Every Night
This goal is pretty self explanatory. It’s such a minor thing, but something I need to remember to do everyday. Apple has the reminders app, but for this new years resolution I personally like the app Way of Life. In the app you can set reminders as well as view graphs to keep track of how well you’ve been doing at keeping that habit alive! Another cool thing about this app is that you can cater it to your life a little bit. For example, if you want to set a habit of exercising three times a week you can use that setting in the app.
4. Do More Cardio
For me, 2017 was the year of being out of shape. I’m really hoping to change that this year! I find myself out of breath for things I didn’t used to before. I kept telling myself that it was just because I’m getting older but lets be honest, it’s because I’m out of shape. If you’re like me cardio can get pretty boring. Sometimes when I’m doing cardio, I like to use the app Zombies, Run! It tracks your distance and provides audio to make it seem like you’re in a zombie apocalypse (talk about motivation..). In between all of that it lets you play your own music too!
5. Listen to Podcasts
This is something I always mean to do in the car, but never remember to do. I’ve heard of a lot of different podcasts and I’ll list them so you can check them out too:
For Major Inspo:
Just For Fun:
– My Favorite Murder (if you’re into crime stories, this one’s for you)
6. Stretch More
Stretching is one of those things that old people tell you to do when you’re young but you laugh it off anyways. You know what I’m talking about? Anyways, they were definitely right. There’s nothing that makes you feel more old than when it takes a serious effort to stand up from sitting criss-cross apple sauce. The app SworkIt is awesome because it creates workouts that cater to your needs (e.g. indoor workouts, yoga, time limits, etc.).
7. Start Journaling
The biggest reason I want to start keeping a journal is because I can be pretty forgetful and I want to be able to reminisce on the best times of the year! The app Gratitude Journal 365 lets you journal the best parts of your day to a calendar, as well as add photos! I plan to use it more as a note keeper to move to an actual journal later.
What are some of your goals this year? I’d love to hear if you have any cool apps too! As always, thanks for reading! Talk to ya soon 🙂
